If you import wine from outside the EU, the label is your problem as well as the producer's. Since 8 December 2023, wine sold in the EU has to give ingredients and nutrition information, and both can sit on an e-label behind a QR code. The catch: the e-label page must not sell anything or track the people who scan it, and a winery's own website usually does not meet that rule.
Under Article 8 of the EU food information regulation (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011), the business responsible for the label is the one whose name the wine is marketed under. If that business is outside the EU, it is the importer. That is why the importer gets the questions when a non-EU wine's QR code opens a shop page, a cookie banner or nothing at all. This is a plain-language summary, not legal advice: check with your compliance adviser or trade association.
More detail: what goes in a wine ingredients list and wine allergen labelling.
Tapline shows exactly what you enter and does not check it against your wine or the regulation. You are responsible for its accuracy. This is not legal advice.
Under Article 8 of the food information regulation (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011), the business responsible for the food information is the one whose name the food is marketed under or, if that business is not established in the EU, the importer. For non-EU wine that is normally the EU importer, so the importer should check what the QR code on the bottle opens.
Usually not. The e-label page must not sell or track users, and the Commission's Q&A says a producer's own website does not seem to comply because it normally carries sales content and tracks visitors. The e-label needs its own neutral page for each wine.
A printed code on a back label or sticker is one way to add the link, but the energy value and any allergens have to be on the bottle already, because they cannot live only behind a code. Check the details for your wines with your national authority or adviser before you relabel stock.
Yes, on a second, separate code. Keep the e-label code neutral, and use the second code for the story and a reorder link to your own shop. The reorder button is on the Growth plan and above.
